“Canada – A World Within A Country…”

Of course, we know Canada is diverse, but did you know that newcomers, who arrived in Canada from 2001-2006, report coming from over 200 different countries? This makes Canada a country rich in cultural diversity. Immigration to Canada is adding to our country’s overall flavour and personality.

Where are people immigrating from? The greatest numbers of people arriving in Canada are from the Middle East and Asia. (41%) Here are some of the stats:

• 14% from China
• 11.6% from India
• 7% from Philippines
• 5.2% from Pakistan

According to an article in the Globe and Mail, immigrants arriving from the Middle East and Asia, in the past few years, have exceeded the amount of immigrants arriving from Europe.

And where are the bulk of immigrants to Canada settling in?

Immigration to Canada has newcomers making their residences in Canada’s 3 biggest cities:

• Montreal
• Toronto
• Vancouver
