The 5 Best PNPs for Workers Overseas!

06 Nov, 2018 The 5 Best PNPs for Workers Overseas!

If you are trying to immigrate to Canada, you’re probably aware of Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Each of Canada’s provinces and territories runs their own immigration programs, called PNPs. Securing a successful PNP means that the applicant can apply directly for Canadian permanent residence. In this article we break down the best PNPs for workers living overseas.

What is a PNP?

All PNPs have different requirements. In putting together this article, we eliminated the PNPs that require a person to be living in Canada or to have a Canadian job offer. This article is for everyone living overseas who wants to know the best way to immigrate with the credentials and experience you already have.

Please note that this article is only about PNPs, if you are eligible for Express Entry, you may not even need a PNP to assist your Canadian immigration. Here’s our list of the Top 5 PNPs for Workers Overseas:

#1 – Nova Scotia Demand – Express Entry (Category B)

Express Entry Profile: Required
In-Demand Work Experience: Required (see below for list)
Application Procedure: First-come, First-Served

The picturesque, seaside province of Nova Scotia is looking for skilled workers to fill out their workforce. If you have an Express Entry profile and you have experience in one of the in-demand occupations listed below, then Nova Scotia Demand – Express Entry could be a great option for you.

The Challenge: This PNP is closed for most of the year. It opens once every 3-6 months and accepts a small number of applications on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s very challenging to get your application submitted in that window. Check out our article on why working with a representative can help you make the cut!

#4 – Ontario Human Capital Priorities

Express Entry Profile: Required
In-Demand Work Experience: Not Required
Application Procedure: Automatic

Canada’s most popular destination for new immigrants and home to the city of Toronto, the province of Ontario runs a PNP to fill gaps in its labour force. The Human Capital Priorities stream selects candidates out of the Express Entry pool and invites them to apply directly to the province.

The Challenge: This stream automatically selects candidates from the Express Entry pool, contacting them directly through their IRCC online account. Generally, only candidates with a CRS score above 400 points are invited and even then, not everyone with a score above 400 will receive an invitation.

#5 – Manitoba Skilled Worker Overseas

Express Entry Profile: Not Required
In-Demand Work Experience: Required
Application Procedure: Competitive Ranking System

The province of Manitoba uses the MPNP to attract skilled workers to the province. The Manitoba Skilled Worker Overseas stream uses a ranking system to select only the most competitive candidates for immigration. All candidates must have work experience in one of Manitoba’s in-demand occupations (see list below).

The Challenge: Candidates must have a connection to the province, usually through a friend or relative who lives there. As well, candidates are ranked using the MPNP Ranking System and only the most competitive candidates are invited to apply.
