It is estimated that 4,376 registered nurse jobs will open up in New Brunswick over the next 10 years. due to lower nursing program enrollment and an aging provincial population. Unfortunately, a lack of nursing professionals can be seen across all of Canada with the country on track to having a shortage of 60,000 nurses by 2022

International Nurses Needed in New Brunswick

The Nursing Resource Strategy was implemented to address the province’s nurse shortage. Of the many actions outlined by the strategy, one major plan is to attract and accommodate internationally trained nurses.

The Atlantic province aims to partner with countries that have nursing education programs of similar professional standards, competencies, and credentials. Additionally, improvements to the registration requirements and application process will be made to reduce any current barriers. New Brunswick will also be creating an immigration program  to welcome newcomers and help them to easily integrate into the healthcare sector.

Canadian Immigration Options for Registered Nurses

There are several Canadian immigration options for internationally trained nurses. If you receive a job offer from a designated employer, you may be eligible for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot’s High-Skilled Worker Stream

The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program targets skilled immigrants with at least one year of work experience and does not require a job offer. Nurses with a higher education, extensive work experience, and a good language proficiency in English or French have a greater chance at success through this program.

If you are an international nurse, your skills are in-demand in Canada. Now is the best time for you to start your Canadian permanent residency process!
