Ontario Receives Additional Nominations for 2019

The province of Ontario announced that it has received an additional 700 nominations for 2019 under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). This recent increase brings the total number of PNP nominations up to 7,350 for this year.

Earlier this week, Ontario reported that it had reached its 2019 nomination quota of 6,650 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nominations across all streams. An additional 700 nominations have now been issued, enabling the province to continue processing applications until these new spots have all been filled.

Ontario will also continue to process eligible candidates under the OINP In-Demand Skills Stream until it reaches its 2019 quota of 250 nominations. Those eligible are required to have a job offer and at least one year of work experience with a National Occupational Classification (NOC) of skill level C.

Make Ontario Your Home

Over the last few years, Ontario’s nomination quotas have seen a steady increase, which is no surprise as the province continues to be one of the top destinations for international skilled workers. Just this past year, Ontario’s PNP saw its highest number of nominations on record. To compare, in 2014 Ontario’s nomination quota was less than half at only 2,500 spots.

Ontario is home to some of the country’s most innovative cities, including Toronto and its thriving tech sector. In September alone, Canada added 80,000 jobs, with Ontario being one of the driving forces behind this increase.

With the current government’s plan of welcoming more than one million newcomers between 2019 and 2021, we can anticipate that provincial nomination programs will continue to increase their quotas to reach these targets in the coming years!
