Saskatchewan Increases Application Intake Thresholds | Canada Immigration News

The Government of Saskatchewan has dramatically increased the number of applications they will accept for the popular Saskatchewan Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).

Both the Saskatchewan Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams operate on a first-come, first-served basis. The streams periodically open to new applications, with a limited intake threshold. Once the maximum number of applications is submitted, they close again.

On August 22, 2017, the Government of Saskatchewan increased the number of applications that will be accepted in 2017 for the Saskatchewan Express Entry stream from 1,700 to 2,600. At the same time, the number of applications that will be accepted for the In-Demand Occupation stream increased from 3,000 to 3,300.

The two streams are both very popular, and the application intake periods usually close within days, or even hours. If you’re eligible for either program, you should begin preparing your application well in advance, so that you’re ready to submit as soon as the program opens.

Former and New Limits

  • Previous Intake Limit: 1,700
  • New Intake Limit: 2,600

  • Previous Intake Limit: 3,000
  • New Intake Limit: 3,300

Part of the popularity of these streams is that neither requires a job offer from a Canadian employer. Applicants need to have experience in an in-demand occupation in Saskatchewan, score at least CLB 4 in English or French, and must score at least 60 out of 100 points on the SINP point assessment grid.

Applicants to the Saskatchewan Express Entry stream must also have a profile in the federal Express Entry pool.

Successful applicants will receive a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan.
