Immigration Update

Please note that the Saskatchewan Express Entry Stream is closed to new applications as of July 28, 2017. If you are eligible for this program, you will have to wait for it to reopen before you can submit your application.

Saskatchewan Express Entry Stream Reopens

The popular Express Entry stream of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is for candidates in the Express Entry pool who have experience in one of the occupations identified by the province as in-demand. This list of occupations changes often to reflect the Saskatchewan labour market.

When the stream periodically opens, it has a limited number of applications it can accept. Once the application quota is met, the program will close again. It’s important to prepare your application in advance, so that you’re able to submit before the program closes.

There are risks involved in preparing an application to this program. Specifically, your work experience may no longer be in-demand when the program reopens, making you ineligible to submit your application. However, a successful application to the SINP is worth 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, virtually guaranteeing you will receive an Invitation to Apply in the next Express Entry draw.

In immigration, there is never a guarantee of success. It can be discouraging to prepare an application and then be unable to submit because a province changes the criteria. However, it is much more discouraging to not prepare an application in advance, and possibly miss your chance to immigrate to Canada entirely.

Our free online assessment can help you determine your eligibility for this program, or any other Canadian immigration programs.

Previous to this update, the list of in-demand occupations was last updated in May, 2017, the last time the program opened to new applications.
