As restrictions put in place to protect the public during the COVID-19 pandemic begin to loosen, foreign nationals may now have greater access to language testing centres.

Most applications for Canadian immigration require foreign nationals to provide language test results. In order to obtain permanent residency in Canada, you must show that you are proficient in English or French.

Getting a high score on your language test is also one of the best ways to raise your CRS score and increase your chances of successfully immigrating to Canada.

The following language tests are admissible for Canadian immigration applications

  • CELPIP: Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program
  • IELTS General Training Test: International English Language Testing System
  • TEF Canada: Test d’évaluation de français
  • TCF Canada: Test de connaissance du français

In Canada, IELTS tests are currently available in British Columbia (BC), Alberta, and Manitoba.

Ontario has announced plans to continue to push for the reopening of businesses, which could include language testing centres.

What is my CRS score?

Want to begin the Canadian immigration process but don’t know where to start? Canadim offers an easy-to-use Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) calculator, giving you an idea of the ranking score that would be assigned to your unique immigration profile in the Federal Express Entry pool. Keep in mind that with a high score on your language test, you could easily boost your CRS score.

As the spread of COVID-19 continues, we encourage you to think about the future and do what you can to work towards your Canadian immigration goals today!
