Candidates invited in the February 24 MPNP draw had a submitted Expression of Interest (EOI) profile under one of three immigration programs:

–         Skilled Worker in Manitoba;

–         Skilled Worker Overseas; or

–         International Education

MPNP Draw #137 Results:

Skilled Workers in Manitoba:

Number of Invitations issued: 206
Score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 612

International Education Stream:

Number of Invitations issued: 33

Score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: N/A

Skilled Workers Overseas:

Number of Invitations issued: 39
Score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 685

In Manitoba’s latest draw, only Skilled Workers Overseas candidates with an invitation under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative were considered for nomination. Receiving an invitation under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative provides a candidate with an additional 500 points toward their MPNP score.

How does MPNP work?

Manitoba has three main skilled worker streams: Skilled Workers in ManitobaSkilled Workers Overseas, and the International Education stream. To submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile, a candidate must meet the eligibility criteria for one of these three programs.

Once a candidate has submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI), Manitoba will rank the profile using their unique points grid.

In regular draws, MPNP issues “Letters of Advice of Apply” (LAA) to the highest-ranking candidates.

Successful applicants will subsequently be invited to apply to the Canadian government for permanent residency.

Expert panel on immigration policies

Manitoba recently revealed that they are assembling an advisory council to recommend improvements to their current immigration policies and programs. The council will focus on:

  • Attracting and recruiting more immigrants and business investors to Manitoba
  • Streamlining the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program to better balance labour market and community needs and economic development
  • Improving settlement services and foreign credential recognition to improve immigrant retention and labour market participation

In the announcement, Manitoba’s immigration minister confirmed that 2021 saw the province’s highest ever immigration levels since the nominee program began in 1998.

“While we’re very proud of these results, we know there are different areas of the labour market that need people with very specific skills to enable them to grow further,” said Heather Stefanson, Manitoba premier.
