Express Entry Draw #208 | Canada Holds Fourth Consecutive PNP Draw

Published on: October 27th, 2021

Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has held a new round of invitations under the Express Entry system today on October 27, 2021. This round of invitations marks the fourth consecutive Express Entry draw targeting Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates.

Draw Summary

Draw Number: 208
Date of Draw: October 27, 2021
Number of Invitations Issued: 888
Minimum CRS: 744
Program Specified: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Tie-breaking rule: October 7, 2021

In the 208th Express Entry draw, a total of 888 provincial nominees were invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

Candidates invited in today’s Express Entry draw were nominated by a province through an Express Entry-aligned PNP.

The minimum required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in today’s draw was 744. The CRS cut-off is typically much higher for PNP-specific draws than other Express Entry programs. This is due to the additional 600 points awarded for a provincial nomination, which greatly increases a candidate’s ranking in the Express Entry pool.

After targeting PNP candidates for four consecutive draws, Federal Skilled Workers and Canadian Experience Class candidates anxiously await an all-program draw. Continuing to hold smaller PNP draws may suggest the Canadian government is making room in the Express Entry pool for an all-program draw. Canada has not targeted the Federal Skilled Worker category since December 23rd, 2020.

Canada has committed to welcoming a historic number of newcomers over the next three years. To meet these immigration targets and fill labour market gaps, Canada will need to increase the rate at which they are currently admitting Canadian permanent residents.
