IEC Draw: Week of April 11

Published on: April 17th, 2025

On April 11, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 3,477 new invitations through the International Experience Canada (IEC) program. So far this year, a total of 57,177 invitations have been sent out, leaving only 5,353 spots open out of the 62,530 available for the 2025 quota.

The IEC includes three streams: Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op (Internship). IRCC sends out invitations until each country’s allocated spots are filled or until the season ends. Last year the season ended in October, but it may be different this year.

What’s Changed Since the Last Update?

When we look at the countries with low chances of getting an invitation, some things have stayed the same, but others have changed since the March 21 update.

Most programs continue to have excellent and fair chances of receiving invitations next round indicating consistency from our previous in-depth report. However, in comparison with the last draw, the following programs have very low odds of receiving an invitation in next week’s round:

  • Chile: Young Professionals and Working Holiday
  • Costa Rica: Working Holiday and Young Professionals
  • France: Working Holiday
  • Taiwan: Working Holiday

Costa Rica is still on the very low odds list for both Working Holiday and Young Professionals. France and Taiwan also remain on the list for the Working Holiday category. This is a telling factor that these programs may be either very competitive or nearly full.

Chile is a new addition to the very low odds of receiving an invitation list this week as it was not listed last week. Individuals who applied through Chile’s Working Holiday and Young Professionals streams now have very low chances of receiving invitations. This indicates that more people have applied, and the probability has shifted or that spots are running out.

Improved Chances at Receiving an Invitation Next Round
Some countries that had low odds in the previous round are no longer on the very low chances of receiving an invitation category. These include:

  • Croatia: Working Holiday
  • Korea, Republic: Working Holiday
  • Latvia, Republic: Working Holiday
  • Netherlands: Working Holiday

The countries above were listed in last week’s IEC update as streams with the lowest chances of receiving invitations in the next round but have not been listed in this weeks list. is advantageous to current applicants in the pool as their chances of receiving an invite in the next round have increased.

Processing Time and Fees

As with any government document, there are fees associated with the IEC application. The processing fee for an IEC application is CAN$172 and additional fees may apply.

The current processing time for IEC applications is approximately 4 weeks from the time that you submit all documents and provide biometrics.

With majority of spots already filled, the final stretch of the IEC season is approaching fast. While many countries still have good or fair chances at receiving an invite, especially in the Young Professionals and Internship streams of the IEC, spots are still limited. If you are thinking about applying for the IEC program, contact us today. Once a country’s quota is filled or the season comes to an end, no more invitations will be issued.
