Claresholm Releases RCIP Priority List

Published on: May 14th, 2025

Claresholm is a city in Alberta that is partaking in the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) along with 14 other regions in Canada. The region has just released both its list of priority occupations and sectors, meaning those who work in any of the sectors and occupations in particular, are eligible to apply under the program.

What is the RCIP?

The RCIP was created to support economic growth in smaller Canadian communities by helping employers address labour shortages. This pilot program allows eligible foreign workers with the intent to settle in a specific region, such as Claresholm, to obtain an LMIA-exempt work permit and, eventually, apply for Canadian permanent residency.

Job Offer Requirement

Applicants interested in immigrating to Claresholm through the RCIP should be aware that the process begins with securing a job offer from a designated employer. At this stage, Claresholm is not accepting direct applications from individuals or employees. Instead, candidates must first connect with an employer who has been officially approved to participate in the program. Once a job offer is secured, the employer and candidate can submit an application.

Priority Sectors and Occupations

Employers will need to be within one of the following priority sectors selected based on the region’s skill shortage. Additionally, the designated industries will need to be hiring for an eligible occupation within that specific industry which is also listed further down this page.
