After successfully operating a farm in Manitoba for a period of time, candidates applying through the Manitoba Farm Investor Pathway will be invited to submit an official application for Canadian permanent residence.
Please note that this stream is replacing the MPNP Farm Strategic Recruitment Initiative which previously enabled business owners and entrepreneurs to apply for immigration to Manitoba.
Throughout 2018 and 2019 the province of Manitoba is implementing extensive changes to their PNP. All details and a schedule of changes are included in the MPNP Renewal section of our website. All streams will be experiencing changes, with some streams closing and new streams opening.

Below are the eligibility criteria which Manitoba has confirmed for this stream:
There is no minimum level of language proficiency listed for this program. However, applicants to this program may be asked to attend an in-person interview as part of the application process. This interview must be conducted in English or French.
Level of Education
There is no minimum level of education required for this program. However, applicants must demonstrate they possess the skills and training required for the successful operation of a farm. In some cases, education may be a means of demonstrating skills and/or training.
In order to qualify to submit an Expression of Interest for the Manitoba Farm Investor Pathway, a candidate must be able to prove they have the interest, ability, and financial resources to own and actively manage a Manitoba farm. For this reason, the program requires a high level of farm management experience as well as a significant financial net worth.
The applicant must have at least three (3) years of work experience as a business owner or farm owner. As well, all applicants must demonstrate they possess practical farming skills, technical knowledge and experience in technological based farming practices.
This stream requires a significant net worth and investment on the part of the applicant. The applicant must have a minimum net worth of at least $350,000 CAD. Candidates will be required to invest a minimum of $150,000 CAD in a farming business in rural Manitoba.
The Manitoba Farm Investor Pathway first requires interested candidates to submit an Expression of Interest to MPNP by emailing a Farm Investor Pathway Interest Guidelines Form along with a Farm Business Concept Form. It is encouraged for candidates to complete extensive research into their proposed Manitoba business, including through an in-person exploratory visit to Manitoba.
Eligible candidates will receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA), inviting them to submit an official application to MPNP. After receiving an LAA, candidates must submit a complete PNP application to Manitoba. If the application is approved, Manitoba will issue a certificate of nomination to the applicant. The candidate will have to sign a Deposit Agreement and send a deposit of $75,000 CAD.
After receiving the provincial nomination, the applicant will be able to apply for Canadian permanent resident status. Once this status is approved, the applicant can travel to Manitoba to launch their farm business.
