Rising costs have not deterred international students from studying abroad completely. However, it has made 16 percent of students reconsider switching to affordable programs, and another 11 percent of them are now considering programs with shorter durations so they can start working sooner. Only 9 percent surveyed indicated they would actually postpone their studies due to financial reasons. Evidently, Universities offering three-year bachelor’s degrees or accelerated programs may experience increased demand.
Post-Graduation Work Permit
The Canadian government has also introduced new requirements for those seeking a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), including higher language proficiency in either English or French. These new regulations are part of Canada’s strategy to uphold integrity in the PGWP program, as they are prioritizing quality over quantity. For students who are accepted into Canadian institutions, the reduced intake may lead to a less competitive job market post-graduation, potentially improving employment outcomes for graduates.
