Ontario Issues Invitations Under Entrepreneur Stream

Published on: August 30th, 2021

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has issued 20 invitations under the Entrepreneur Stream in their most recent draw.

Those who received an invitation in this round of invitations had a score between 146 and 200 on the Ontario’s Entrepreneur scoring grid.

Invited candidates do not need to contact OINP upon receiving an invitation; Ontario will send two emails to invitees with login details and instructions on how to submit a full application.

Those who did not meet the points criteria of this draw will remain in the pool of candidates for 12 months from the date their profile was submitted.

August 26th OINP Entrepreneur Stream Draw Results

Expression of Interest score range: 142-200

Number of invitations issued: 20

Only profiles received and scored by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program by August 23rd, 2021 were eligible for consideration in this draw.

What is the OINP Entrepreneur Stream?

The OINP Entrepreneur stream is one of the province’s Business Streams. The stream targets experienced business owners or senior business managers who want to live in and run a business in Ontario.

How does the Entrepreneur Stream work?

The Ontario Entrepreneur stream operates through an Expression of Interest (EOI) system. In other words, individuals who meet the minimum stream requirements can submit a profile to OINP for consideration in one their regular draws. Ontario subsequently ranks candidates on a points-based system and invite those with the highest scores to submit a full application.

Once a candidate receives an invitation, they have 90 days to submit the required information and documents to the province. This includes a business plan, and a review of personal net worth which must be completed by a qualified third party. At this time, the candidate must remit an application fee of $3,500 CAD.

If OINP approves the application, they may issue the candidate a work permit support letter to apply for Canadian work authorization. Once arrived in Canada, applicants have up to 20 months to submit a final report of their business. This report also acts as an application for nomination. If the report is approved, OINP will grant the candidate with a nomination accordingly. Thereafter, successful applicants are invited to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence.
