CANADA ADDS 290,000 JOBS IN MAY

After two months of losses, Canada added 290,000 jobs to the economy, according to a new report from Statistics Canada. The increase in job creation is a welcome change from the losses experienced in March and April that were forecasted to continue throughout the spring. [Read more]

ESSENTIAL WORKERS TEMPORARILY EXEMPT FROM GIVING BIOMETRICS OVERSEAS

With ongoing COVID-19 related visa service interruptions, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have temporarily exempted some foreign workers from having to provide biometrics before coming to Canada. [Read more]

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #151 | PROVINCIAL NOMINEE CLASS SPECIFIC

341 Express Entry candidates who have received provincial nominations have been invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence in the 151st Express Entry draw on June 10th, 2020. The minimum CRS cut-off score for this draw was 743, down 14 points from the last Provincial Nominee-specific draw. [Read more]

On June 9, British Colombia’s Provincial Nominee Program issued 87 invitations to apply for a nomination through the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories. The minimum provincial score requirement for each category was 82. [Read more]

WORK PERMITS FOR ESSENTIAL OCCUPATIONS IN QUEBEC ARE NOW PRIORITIZED

Effective June 10, 2020, selected occupations that are deemed essential in Quebec will now receive priority processing when applying for a work permit. The employer is still required to submit a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) but the application will be prioritized and the minimum advertising requirement is waved, greatly reducing processing times. EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #152 | CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS SPECIFIC

3,559 Express Entry candidates in the Canadian Experience Class program will receive invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence in the 152nd Express Entry draw on June 11th, 2020. The minimum CRS cut-off score for this draw is 437, down three points from the last Canadian Experience Class-specific draw.

VISA APPLICATION CENTRES GRADUALLY REOPENING

In response to changing COVID-19 conditions, a select number of Canadian Visa Application Centres (VACs) are beginning to reopen. [Read more]
