Alberta recently published results from its newest round of invitations under the Express Entry stream, held on December 14, 2021.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program’s (AINP) latest round of invitations invited 150 candidates from the Express Entry pool to apply for nomination. The lowest-ranking candidate had a CRS score of just 351.
Alberta also recently revealed that they met their immigration quota for 2021. The federal government allocated 6,250 nominations to AINP, all of which were issued to qualifying candidates.
In all of 2020, a total of just 1,785 candidates were invited after Alberta halted these draws in the last half of the year as part of their Economic Recovery Plan. The stream resumed nominee draws in January 2021 and has been issuing invitations at a much higher rate.
To be considered under Alberta’s Express Entry stream, candidates must have an active profile in the federal Express Entry pool with a CRS score of at least 300, and a stated interest in immigrating permanently to Alberta. Alberta does not release details on the additional criteria targeted in each Express Entry stream draw. However, they have stated that the following factors may increase a candidate’s chances:
