Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
British Columbia invited 140 tech workers in its latest nominee draw on February 15.
The newest round of invitations was issued under the BC PNP Tech, an immigration program operated by the British Columbia Nominee Program (BC PNP).
The BC PNP Tech offers prioritized processing and weekly draws to certain tech candidates that qualify under one of four pathways of BC’s Skills Immigration and Express Entry streams:
In addition to meeting the criteria for one of the above streams, to be considered in a BC PNP Tech draw, candidates must have a job offer in one of 29 tech occupations.

British Columbia recently released its latest Labour Market Outlook (LMO), which forecasted a whopping one million job openings in BC in the next decade.
Of these figures, BC predicts science and science and technology jobs to remain in high demand, with 111,000 expected job openings.
The LMO also indicated that new immigrants will fill 34% of jobs, providing a promising landscape for prospective newcomers.
In an effort to recruit more tech workers to the province, BCPNP holds weekly draws with consistently lower points requirements than non-tech draws. Those with a qualifying tech job offer benefit from faster application processing times and are overall in a stronger position to receive a nomination that is processed more quickly than non-tech candidates.
The BC PNP typically holds nominee draws every Tuesday evening. Each week, BC alternates between general draws and BC PNP Tech draws.
The next BC PNP draw is expected on February 22nd, 2022, targeting all BC PNP candidates.
