The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) nominates applicants who have a strong connection to the province and sufficient skills, education and training, work experience and official language proficiency to make an immediate and ongoing contribution to the Manitoba economy and community at large.

The majority of the programs under MPNP are not aligned with the federal Express Entry system. In order to be considered for nomination through one of these streams, applicants must submit an Expression of Interest.

Manitoba will be renewing the MPNP over the course of 2018.

In addition to a new In-Demand Occupations List, there will be approximately 10 pathways to permanent residence operating under four streams.

The information below reflects the most recent information from the MPNP. However, it is subject to change.

Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream

You may be eligible if you are a skilled worker with Ongoing Manitoba employment. Ongoing Manitoba employment means that a Manitoba company has offered you a long-term, full-time job after you have completed at least six months (continuous) full-time employment with that company as a temporary foreign worker or international student working graduate.

As per the MPNP renewal, in 2019, Manitoba plans to introduce two pathways for the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream:

Planned effective date: February 2019

You may be eligible if you are a skilled worker in Manitoba, an international student who graduated outside of Manitoba, or an international student who graduated from a school in Manitoba but who is working in an occupation not listed on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupation List

Planned effective date: February 2019

You may be eligible if you have an offer of employment from a pre-approved Manitoba employer.

Skilled Workers Overseas Stream

You may be eligible if you are a skilled worker with an established connection to Manitoba either through the support of family members or friends, through previous education or work experience, or through an Invitation to Apply received directly from the MPNP as part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

Through 2018 and 2019, Manitoba will introduce two pathways under the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream:

Planned effective date: February 2019

You may be eligible if you are a skilled worker with experience in or skills aligned with the province’s In-Demand Occupations List.

MANITOBA EXPRESS ENTRY PATHWAY– aligned with federal Express Entry system

Effective date: January 2018

You may be eligible if you have an active profile in the Express Entry pool, experience in an in-demand occupation, and score at least 60 points on the Manitoba Skilled Worker points assessment grid.

Business Investor Stream

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for Business (MPNP-B) has now been replaced by the new Business Investor Stream. This stream is now open to new Expressions of Interest.

Starting in 2018, there will be two pathways under the Business Investor Stream:

Effective Date: May 2018

You may be eligible if you are seeking to open and operate a business in Manitoba and have a personal net worth of at least $500,000.

Effective Date: May 2018

You may be eligible if you have at least three years of experience in farm business management or farm ownership and operation experience, intend to open and operate a farm in Manitoba, and have a personal net worth of at least $350,000.

International Education Stream

As of November 2018, there is a new International Education Stream for international student graduates in Manitoba. There are three pathways under the International Education Stream:

Effective Date: November 2018

You may be eligible if you are an international student who graduated in Manitoba and who is working in an occupation aligned with the In-Demand Occupations List.

Effective Date: November 2018

The Manitoba Graduate Internship Pathway accepts applications from international graduates who have completed a Masters or PhD program in Manitoba within the last 3 years and who completed a Mitacs Elevate or Accelerate internship.

Effective Date: November 2018

The Manitoba Student Entrepreneur Pathway targets foreign nationals who have recently graduated from a Manitoba post-secondary institution and who have at least 6-months experience owning and managing a business in Manitoba.

The MPNP has identified the following occupations as ‘in-demand’ in Manitoba. Many occupations identified on this list are limited to specific streams of the MPNP, and candidates must meet the eligibility requirements for one of the specific pathways listed under each stream.
